Rowan College at Burlington County starts new honors initiative

Rowan-300x300

Starting this fall, Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC) students can enroll in honors courses; four different rigorous courses in chemistry, math, English and history will be offered.

“Rowan College at Burlington County’s most talented students will now have the opportunity to excel in our new honors initiative, which was suggested, created and developed by our talented faculty,” RCBC President Paul Drayton said. “Our innovative undergraduate research program, honors courses and 300-level courses as part of the ‘3+1’ path to a $25,000 Rowan University degree are all challenging options that students cannot get at other two-year colleges.”

Incoming freshmen, current RCBC students, students transferring to RCBC and high school students with a minimum 3.2 GPA are all eligible to apply.

Students can choose to sign up for a maximum of two courses, which include General Chemistry I, Calculus I and Analytic Geometry, Composition II, and U.S. History I. Each course has different eligibility requirements.

Honors applications are available online and can be submitted prior to fall registration. To apply to the RCBC Honors Initiative or for more information, please go to rcbc.edu/honors. Incoming freshman, transferring students and high school students are also required to submit transcripts to the college’s Admissions Office.

“This is a Rowan College at Burlington County difference. Our students are getting experiences here that rival those at four-year universities,” said RCBC Senior Vice President and Provost Dr. David Spang.

Honors courses will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis for qualifying students. The maximum number of students in each honors course is 20.

For more information about how to become a Rowan College at Burlington County student, please visit rcbc.edu/admissions. Early online fall semester registration begins Monday, March 28. An honors application should be filled out separately and can be found at rcbc.edu/honors.
